New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) continues to be a topic of discussion even after the release of the retention list for IPL 2025. While MS Dhoni was the centre of attention before, the focus has now shifted to Ravichandran Ashwin. CSK has retained MS Dhoni, Rituraj Gaikwad, Shivam Dubey, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mathisha Pathirana and has Rs 55 crore remaining in its purse for the auction.

According to the Times of India, many other teams including Chennai Super Kings can bet on wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant. Apart from him, CSK seems to be in the mood to bring back Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin, who has already played 8 seasons for Chennai. On the one hand, CSK has to fill the slot of a top-order Indian batsman and an experienced fast bowler, so it is unlikely that they will bid 15-20 crores or higher on any player.

According to TOI, some time ago Ashwin had told in an interview that he once again wants to play for his old team i.e. Chennai Super Kings. Meanwhile, it is also an update that the CSK franchise can play the Right to Match card on New Zealand’s dashing opener Devon Conway. Conway could not play last season due to a thumb injury, but in IPL 2023, he scored 672 runs at an average of 51.69.

Talking about Ravichandran Ashwin, he has played 97 matches for Chennai Super Kings, in which he has 90 wickets to his name. He has also scored 190 runs for this team. But when CSK and Rajasthan Royals were banned for the 2016-2017 season, Ashwin has not played for Chennai since then.
